Max and Nola were introduced to Maitland Regional Art Gallery in early 2016 on a research trip to find the most suitable Gallery to receive their expansive collection of artworks by Lionel Lindsay. MRAG was, at the time, second in line to the Art Gallery of NSW, however after a visit to Maitland and a vision shared, the meeting became an offer of intent to donate more than 170 artworks. The impressive collection of Lindsay works have found a new home in the Maitland collection and The Tegel's have become close friends of our city.
Now, three years on, we are delighted to exhibit 'In the light of day' by Nola Tegel and encourage you to view the exhibition at MRAG and join us to explore the exquisite garden which features in her work. Nola comes from a long standing tradition of painting en plein air, artwork created ‘in the moment', painted and worked on in situ. Nola can often be seen working in her magnificent home garden or out in the field during her many trips overseas. As a traveller of the world she is always looking and scanning what is before her editing and selecting that which inspires her.
Meet at Maitland Regional Art Gallery 230 High Street,Maitland, followed by travel to Cobitty and return to MRAG.
