LWT: INDIGENOUS ASTRONOMY

Aboriginal people have been described as 'the world's first astronomers'. Long before the Greeks and Romans, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people developed a number of practical ways to observe the sun, moon and stars to inform navigation, calendars, and predict weather.

The unique skills and perspectives of Aboriginal people are explored, particularly with regard to traditional knowledge of astronomy and the part it plays in Aboriginal narratives.
