Head west for a glimpse of Hunter Valley Wine Country through the towns of Lochinvar, Allandale and Greta. Perfect for those who don’t want to be too far from the action of Burton Automotive Hunter Valley Steamfest as the return trip takes just over an hour. The engine for these journeys is the 3265.
Branxton excursions are a steam pull/diesel push journey.
As there is no ability for the steam engine to be turned around at Branxton, the locomotive and carriages arrive and depart in the same order. This means the steam engine will pull the journey from Maitland to Branxton and will then be at the rear to push the return journey from Branxton to Maitland with the assistance of a heritage diesel engine.
